about
Finnish death metal band Inborn Tendency has been working at a fast pace on new material and now releases a new, even tighter and more thought-provoking song. "Death Do Us Part" addresses the topic of domestic violence.
"This song really challenged us with it's content, but the theme deserves to be brought to light. Musically, we are super pleased with the results!" Singer Ville Herranen stated.
"Yeah the lyrics might be a tough pill to swallow for some, but that is how it has always been. I would LOVE for them to stir up conversation," he continued.
Herranen continued his explanation of the lyrics.
"We do not condone any sort of violence. The lyrics are not glorifying, but telling a horrific story about an all too common phenomenon. This is happening all the time, but in secrecy. The subject being taboo only helps the status quo."
lyrics
It took too long for me to understand
That love is not a cage
Looking at your expressionless face
What a disgrace, I hold you still on this dark embrace
All the times I told you I've changed
It looks right now that you're the deranged
Here we go, trapped in this vicious charade
My greatest demons all parade
This burden drives me beyond insane
In the end only the debt remains
I can't let go, not anymore
Not while your hands reach for the door
My arms are numb, but I know they're there
Squeezing this lifeline, keeping you here
Hush my darling, don't make a sound
Others could hear us, that is for sure
Seal your lips, don't scream out loud
They look so pretty with a hint of azure allure
Here we go, trapped in this vicious charade
My greatest demons all parade
This burden drives me beyond insane
In the end only the debt remains
I release my grip revealing your bruised neck
Your motionless body falls to ground breathless
Reality like a cold iron pike shoved through my intestines
With trembling hands I close your eyes
And lay by your side
